Puppy Play Yard
The puppies start going out to this yard with Mom at about five weeks of age to start outdoor potty training as well as having plenty of room to romp and play in a secure environment. At six weeks, the puppies begin experiencing and learning to maneuver various types of footing, swimming pools and obstacle equipment. Mom also begins to spend more and more time away from the puppies on the other side of the fence as they are gradually weaned, but still under their mother's watchful eye.
Crates
Once they are weaned, they begin eating their meals separately in their own crates. During this process, they learn to happily spend time in their crate little by little, until they can sleep in their crate all night without whining or having to go out.
Puppy Day Kennels
After breakfast in the house, at twelve weeks of age, the puppies go out to their individual 8 x 40 day kennels. Here they run and play side by side, while establishing their own individual character and identity. They also enjoy their outdoor toys until lunch time. After lunch, they spend the remainder of the afternoon in the house playing with plush toys, doing some individual obedience training, practicing house manners and having lots of one-on-one human bonding time.
Adult Outdoor Kennels
Although most of our dogs live in our home (and sleep in our bed!), not all dogs get along all of the time. As a result, we have very comfortable 10 x 20 covered kennels with fans. Here they can enjoy the outdoors in a cool, secure environment while observing the activities on our horse farm. They each have a minimum of twice daily bonding, playing and training time.
Whelping Facilities
Our expectant mothers enjoy 12 x 12 indoor rooms, which resembles living in the house. Here they have all the privacy they need to have their babies while feeling safe and secure from the outside elements. These rooms are easy to keep clean. They are bright and climate controlled. Here we often spend several days and nights with a new mother to ensure that she understands how to best care for her new born puppies. She has access at all times to a 40 x 50 play yard to exercise and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. Once the puppies are big enough to start going outside, we remove the puppy blockade and they too can begin to experience more of the world.
